Files Retrieved from the Strategic Scientific Reserve

During World War I, the Allied Forces decided to continue a modicum level of cooperation as a precaution against future conflict. The Strategic Scientific Reserve was founded with a largely American influence, paid for and outfitted by Stark Industries (First Howard Stark, Sr. Later, Howard Stark Jr.). They oversaw Project Rebirth which lead to the creation of the first "Super Soldier." There were multiple divisions from an Academy, to the Field, to the Special Forces under the command of Colonel Steve Trevor. Colonel Chester Phillips (Later, General) was the overall commander while General Sam Sawyer oversaw the prototype Nauticarrier.




Named for their screaming charge across (and the screams in the enemy trenches afterwards) the Markovian No Man's Land in World War I, the Howling Commandos were an elite squad later assigned to the Strategic Scientific Reserve to do the dirty jobs that would never be celebrated. Officially, they were under the command by Colonel Steve Trevor, one of the later founders of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a national hero. They utilized a prototype stealth plane – the Trinjet – to rapidly deploy to multiple Theaters.

Service Record: Sergeant Logan's record is spotty at best with some files burned or blanked out to the point they shouldn't have wasted the paper. Notably Logan found and discovered Captain Steve Trevor after his plane crashed. What became the Howling Commandos was born that day in Markovia when Logan and his men somehow got the Captain across No Man's Land to help turn the tide of the First Great War. Before America ever officially joined World War II, Logan and his men were already active after being recruited into the SSR. His ruthlessness is balanced out by his kindness though rare to see. He is the best he is at what he does and what he does is find and command people who are very good at killing people AKA Recruitment and Command.

Rank: (Honorary) Specialist/Technician Fifth Grade
Service Record: Reilly is the official Chronicler of the Howling Commandos after following their trail and stumbling upon the Tragedy of Sokovia. He was recruited by Colonel Trevor and Sergeant Logan after the Daily Bugle published the photos of the atrocity. He has since received basic training between missions and granted an honorary rank in the SSR.

Rank: Specialist/Technician Third Grade
Service Record: Runt is among the few [Redacted] who found "safety" within the United States Armed Forces by being savagely useful in getting jobs done that would kill a normal man. He's a founding member of the Howling Commandos. In fact, he is one of the two whose screams of rage gave the unit its name as they crossed No Man's Land. He has served alongside Sergeant Logan and his "brother" Dog for decades. After an undercover operation posing as a [Redacted] for a Labor Camp, he is commended for maiming Hydra Scientist, Baron Zemo's face.

Service Record: Dog is among the few [Redacted] that found safety in service to the military at the side of his "brother" Runt and unlike him, actively took the initiative for command assignments. Though few know it or recognize it, he is officially the Second-in-Command while in the Field for the Howling Commandos. Another founding member, he [redacted] and helped then Captain Trevor finish his mission.

Notable Alias(es): The 'stache, Hatman, Prettiest Man in the Howling Commandos

Rank: Corporal
Service Record: Dum Dum was a Strongman in Haley's Circus recruited by Sergeant Logan as part of Colonel Trevor's Initiative for the SSR prior to the War's outbreak. In the years since, he has found his calling as a lifelong Corporal. Often serving as the "Heart" of the unit, Dugan hides intelligence behind simplicity, his moral compass sparing lives the Commandos would otherwise do their best to avoid so as to not become attached. Officially, he oversees Snapper's training and acts somewhat as his bodyguard. A strange myth has followed the Corporal around where there are no living witnesses to have seen him without his signature bowler hat.
