Welcome to Infinite Chronicles!
In the past this board has utilized a set of rules to govern character and title claims. Those days have come to an end. Every writer is now free to craft stories using whatever settings and characters they see fit. Whether they belong to an established property, or are an original invention. The only restrictions that will exist going forward are as follows:
1.) No post on this board (story or otherwise) may violate the Proboards Community Guidelines. Clearly fanfiction in general is something of a gray area regarding infringement of rights, but until such content is outright prohibited we should be fine. Everything else listed will be strictly enforced, and anyone found to be in violation will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including being banned if such a measure is appropriate.
2.) In order to streamline the board overall, there will no longer be dedicated boards/sub boards for series. Instead every writer will be allowed a single dedicated thread in each of the following forums:
- Active Stories
- Teasers, Images, Character Files, etc.
- Story Discussion
3.) Any discussion thread that is inactive for one calendar year will be deleted from the board by an Editor to reduce clutter. Story threads that are inactive for a calendar year will be moved to Archives. They will not be intentionally deleted unless the writer specifically requests it.
And that's it!
Individual posts within a thread can always be linked to if a writer is active with multiple series/installments. If any thread exceeds 10 pages then the writer can request it to be locked by an Editor via private message. At that point the writer may then start a new thread. Collaborations between two or more writers may also have their own dedicated threads.
I understand that this is a major change, but I like to think it is justified. This board has been around for years, and in that time a very stable core group of members has remained. It's become apparent that the old system had become little more than a hindrance to those who are interested in actively participating, and also resulted in an endlessly repetitive cycle of creating, deleting, and moving threads for myself and the other Editors.
To be quite frank, it was starting to feel more like a job than a hobby.
It's my hope that dropping most of the rules will encourage people to just have fun writing and reading. Because ultimately that's what this is supposed to be all about. Fun.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to PM me either on the board or the discord server. I more than willing to discuss any and all matters.
